Measuring socioeconomic status

Hi All,
I am analyzing the socioeconomic and demographic status part of my data.
I have many indicators.
I want to do descriptive and bivariate for my variables and eventually fit in a model

One example is marital status. I have 5 levels [1-married, 2-widowed, 3-separated, 4-divorced, 5- never married]

I have 2 trt groups [1-control 2=treatment]
How do I test this on SAS?
A model like marital status = mu+trt+eij, does make sense?
I am not sure how to go about with the analyses.
Any help would be great!
